Then down comes Ruthie all dressed up who says she has a date - now Lucy really IS the only one without a date.Eric arrives at the Canberry's house, where he finds out that "Mom" is the name of their aging golden retriever. They say they love the dog too much to let her suffer anymore. They say they want to bury Mom in the park, but it's against the law. They say there's a stray at the park, Huck, whom Mom has gotten attached to.
That night, Simon goes through his closet and picks out a bright blue tie to wear to Deena's birthday party. After getting spruced up, he even gives Happy a brushing. He walks downstairs and Annie says he looks very handsome. Simon says Deena's older brother is taking them to dinner. Ruthie has changed her clothes at the request of Annie. He asks Lucy to accompany them to dinner.
Michael forgot his cash card, so he has to stop by his house, where he finds his roommates have thrown a huge party. Even though Mary promised to just run in with Michael and then go to movies, Mary and Michael join in party. However, a few minutes later, Mary says she wouldn't feel comfortable sticking around and Michael agrees he wouldn't feel right lying to her mom either. Eric and Sgt. Michaels take off to a loud party during Matt's ride along. Sgt. Michaels goes to check out the party, and a couple of Matt's friends find him outside. When Mary and Michael walk back from the ATM, they notice the back door to the police car is open. They hop in the back and start making out just as Matt walks back and catches them. Matt jumps back when he sees it is Mary.. Michael has to hold Mary back from attacking Matt. She yells at him that she is 16 years old and doesn't need him watching her every minute.
When Eric is in the car with Mom, he can't take her to the vet, and he can't take her back to the Canberry's. While he is explaining it to Mom, he asks if Mom wants to go to the park and Mom perks up. Eric and Mom sit in the park and listen to the stillness. Later, Huck approaches them and talks to Huck about what is happening to Mom, and tells Huck he deserves a better home. As he is talking to Huck, Mom passes away quietly.
Simon, Lucy, Jack and Deena arrive at the French restaurant and are taken back by how extravagant it is. Simon says they are not leaving, and he will pay for everybody. The waiter offers to make some suggestions, and Lucy explains he should keep it pretty cheap.
Back at the house, Ruthie and Donovan are silently watching a western when Annie walks in with one of the twins. Donovan is shocked and immediately covers his mouth with handkerchief. Annie guesses that Donovan is an only child and his mom is pregnant. Annie offers to let Donovan hold one of the twins. He is scared at first, but Annie teaches him how to hold David. After a few awkward seconds, Donovan gets the hang of it and overcomes his fear.
The next morning, Annie asks how it went with Mom last night, and Eric tells her he buried her in the park. Annie is confused and he tells her the story. Huck walks in the bedroom and Annie makes a friend, but tells Eric Huck can't stay. Eric takes the dog to the Canberry's and asks if they could look after Huck. They agree to take him in.
Matt and Mary decide to sit down and just talk. Matt says he called Michael to come over, and he's in the driveway right now. Mary takes off to go see him. While in the driveway, the two make out. Although it's not daring as the squad car, they seem to enjoy it just the same.
