As the show opens, Eric is preparing the Camden children for the many tasks of the upcoming wedding while Simon prepares to meet a new "all-day evaluation" named Deena, something. Where following his heart didn't work before Simon has now decided to use his brain, and a checklist, in order for this, possible, date to be successful.

Lucy and Jordan plan on spending the entire day together baby-sitting Ruthie, even though nobody thinks they really need a baby sitter. Except maybe for Annie.

As Annie walks in to the kitchen she mentions that arrangements for the reception still need to be done. Eric mentions that Annie is supposed to be taking care of that but that it would be OK to call the restaurant or the hotel to schedule somewhere else.

In the lobby of the hotel the two love birds, Charles and Ginger, have just checked in. Very much in love and excited about soon becoming Mr. and Mrs. [Jackson?]

Back at the house Eric asks Annie how everything is going. She answers everything is great and that she decided to by a frozen pound cake and some frosting, to throw on top, topped off with a Barbie and Ken. For the main course Annie has chosen something quick to bake and that can be thrown into the freezer if the wedding doesn't happen. A definite indication that she hopes that it will not. Further more, Annie strongly states that the children will never call Ginger that dreaded word "Grandma." Eric, trying to be very sympathetic to Annie's feelings for the wedding informs her that he is sure nobody has any intention of ever calling her that. Eric, trying to change the subject suggests they go to the market to "spontaneously" pick out what they will have for the wedding. Annie flat out refuses.

In the kitchen Annie finds Jordan, cooking hot dogs in the kitchen, who understands what Annie is going through. He, however, was never invited to the wedding. Even if he was invited he doesn't know if he would have had the guts to go. Ruthie walks in and Jordan asks what Hooey wants on her hot-dog. He then states that he can hear everything that Hooey says, no need to repeat it, which gets a smile out of Ruthie. A big improvement over those Rod and Jimmy character. Lucy states that it is rude to talk about your old boyfriend in front of your new boyfriend. This, however, is news to Jordan. Eric quickly escorts Ruthie, who now has a show to watch, out of the kitchen and out of the house.

Outside Simon is working on a homework assignment with Deena Margaret Stewart, a name only used when she is in trouble. Ruthie states that she likes her to which Simon replies "Don't get attached." Deena states the family seems nice to which Simon replies "Don't get attached." Ruthie implies that Hooey would like to eat his hot dog over by Simon and Deena which Eric agrees to on the basis that he always makes a big mess in the car. Back at the table Ruthie uses her "What are we doing" line to start up a conversation with the two. This quickly leads to a hypothetical discussion about weddings. Should they be married before or after going to college, do they use the Spice Girls theme, or not, and should Ruthie
