Original Airdate: 05/11/98

We catch up with the Camden's at home where Eric and Annie still can't believe that Mary is pregnant. They begin to question their actions and allowing her to date Wilson. They talk about what to do, and agree that the first thing to do is tell Mary, figuring she doesn't know herself. Eric can't believe that the life she had 5 minutes ago is over.

Mary and Matt have an argument and Mary lets go on him about his over-protective attitude. Matt explains he is the older brother, and she tells him to care a little bit less. Matt retires to his room and turns up the stereo, trying to get away from it all.

Simon is disappointed that the Pow-Chow people didn't give him a plaque or anything when the doorbell rings. When Eric opens the door, everyone is surprised to find the Colonel and his wife walk right in and ask what time graduation is. They tell Eric and Annie that their arrangements for a place to stay fell through. The colonel and Ruth talk to Eric about Matt missing his graduation, and feel it's a great opportunity. When Eric and Annie are about to go up to Mary's room, Rod and Jimmy arrive and ask if there is any MIT work to do. Eric starts to go off the handle, but Annie intervenes and helps calm him down.

Mary and Lucy go out with Wilson and Kenny, and while Wilson and Mary kiss, Lucy and Kenny play pool and talk. Back at the house, Eric and Matt finds out that the Colonel made a couple phone calls to some people in Washington and he raised the odds of getting the job. After hearing this, Matt says he doesn't want the job anymore. When the phone rings, a man, Jack Martin, arrives at the door and says he is Happy's rightful owner. Annie and Eric tell the guy to leave, and Jack says he will be back with his lawyer. As the man is leaving, Annie's dad and Ginger burst through the door and ask when the graduation is. Eric and Annie can't believe what is going on.

That night, Eric and Annie wait outside for Mary and Wilson to come home to approach her about being pregnant. When they pull up, they confront Mary and Wilson - but Mary insists she can't be pregnant. Wilson and Mary both assure them they have never had sex - ever. Mary says "wacky Dr. Peterson: made a mistake. Mary can't believe they would think she would betray their trust. Simon and Ruthie and Happy try to think of a way to make sure that Jack won't take Happy away. They decide to try something after everybody is asleep....

The next morning, Mary and Matt are still mad at each other. Matt tells Mary that when he leaves, she will be the oldest and can do things her way. He tells her she didn't even notice things were wrong with the other kids. The doorbell rings, and it's Jack with his lawyer demanding the Camdens give him Happy. When Happy, Simon and Ruthie come down, Happy is a mixture of pink, green and blue - Simon and Ruthie got into the food coloring to try and make her look different. It doesn't work, and Jack leaves with Happy as Simon breaks into tears in his mother's arms. Later, Simon and Ruthie retreat to clean up the bathroom.

Lucy calls Kenny and tells him she wants to stop the relationship before it starts. Rod and Jimmy said she shouldn't have done that - they tell her to call him back, say it's a fleeting moment thing and take it from there. Lucy says she can't, so Jimmy takes matters into his own hands. Matt goes into the kitchen and tells Mary about Happy and infers she doesn't care since she's on the phone with Wilson.

Matt gets a call from none other than Hillary Clinton says she wants him to reconsider the job in Washington. Matt decides to accept after all. As everyone congratulates him, Matt is still in shock. Mary and Lucy go to their room, where Mary tries to comfort Lucy.

When the Colonel and Ruth return from jogging, Rod and Jimmy talk secretly about a mission for the evening. They huddle and start planning. Later that night, when Annie's father and Ginger return, they tell the family they are now engaged! When the colonel and gang return, Annie notices handprints on the Colonel's jacket. When asked, the Colonel merely gives his serial number.

The next day, breakfast is interrupted when Happy comes running in the house. Simon and Ruthie give her hugs and kisses, while Eric and Annie know the fight isn't over. Mary goes up to Matt's room and apologizes for her attitude recently. When Jack arrives, he says Happy cried most of the day before, and agrees that this is where she wants to be and should be. He agrees Happy is.. happiest where she is.

The next day at church, Eric lets Rod and Jimmy handle the sermon. Wilson tells Mary that he is going away to school and moving in with his cousin. Mary is heartbroken, and looks upwards for guidance. Eric greets the congregation and then turns over the sermon to his MIT's. Rod and Jimmy give an... interesting sermon about how your soul finds its destiny. Rod provides the musical accompaniment. They end saying the Lord wants us to be good with both hands - so strive to be ambidextrous.

Later at Matt's graduation, as valedictorian, he gives his speech. He talks about how his parents illuminated the dark places and uncertainty, and no matter what point out the right path. Annie tells Eric the news that she is the one having the baby - Dr. Peterson got the tests mixed up.

Back at the house, Rod and Jimmy thank Eric for letting them shadow him. They say they couldn't be paid enough to care about people as much as Eric does. Eric says it's the job, but they both tell him it's the man. Matt rushes in and Eric tells the family about their expected arrival. Matt tells everybody he is still taking the job, but he's changed his mind about where to go to college - he's going to stay home after all. Everybody hugs and we fade out on our family as the bonds of family grow even stronger.
