Original Airdate: 10/07/96

Annie's father rushes back to Arizona after his wife's funeral while Simon is quizzing attendees about Heaven. Eric consoles a couple going through marital problems and, in turn, comforts Annie through this difficult time.

While at their grandmother's funeral, who died as a result of leukemia, Simon and Ruthie fall asleep in the back of the limousine. While the family consoles each other, Annie is surprised when her father calls a cab and whizzes away instead of staying with the family for a couple days. Everyone is puzzled by his lack of grief and his unwillingness to be with the family.

Back the Camden house, friends and neighbors gather to express their sympathy for the Camden's loss. Simon asks why everyone is bringing food and says grandpa is missing the good part. Renee, Matt's pregnant friend, arrives to pay her respects, and Matt asks where the child's father is. Renee tells Matt that the father and her dad went to a comic book convention together.

In the kitchen, the girls talk to each other about their grief when Mary's boyfriend Jeff calls. Mary says she is going to break up with Jeff because he is "too clingy."

Simon sets out on a personal search for the location of where grandma is now that she is dead. When Annie tells Simon that grandma is "up there," Simon asks her to be more specific but she is unable to do so. Next interrogating Eric, Simon doesn't get any closer to the answer he is looking for.

Eric attempts to comfort a woman she married to a man several months ago when she tells Eric her life is a mess and she thinks her husband is keeping something from her - an affair. The husband then finds Eric and tells him that he is acting happy but is really very sad. He tells Eric he's been married before, but never fully divorced - he's a bigamist and doesn't know how to tell his wife. Eric tells him they can't be divorced since they aren't legally married, and he will help them work it out.

Annie retreats to her room where Ruthie asks her to sing grandma's song. Telling Ruthie the history of the song, Annie informs Ruthie the song is almost a family joke. When they are about to sing, Renee breaks into the conversation telling them that her baby is coming. Matt rushes Renee to the hospital in the limo.

Back upstairs, Lucy is sitting on the floor crying over her grandmother's death when Eric holds her close. Lucy tells her dad that she is sad because it's like there is a party going on downstairs and her grandmother wasn't invited. Lucy doesn't mean the people eating and talking downstairs - but life itself.

At the hospital, Renee goes into labor while Matt looks on nervously. Telling Renee to do her breathing, Matt retreats out of the room to try and find the father at the convention. When Renee goes into full labor, Matt holds Renee's hand as she delivers her daughter.

After spending the whole day solving the couple's problems, Eric tells Annie he is going out on business. Annie breaks down and says she can't count on any man in her life today. Eric asks Annie to trust him and meet him at the church in 10 minutes.

Simon, not getting an acceptable answer to his question about heaven, gets an unlikely answer from Ruthie. Saying grandma is in the place where she was before she was born, Ruthie ten tells Simon to picture grandma in his heart.

Arriving at the church, Annie finds Eric in the middle of marrying the couple - legally, and participating in a joyous re-union of the couple.

Coming back home, Matt tells Annie that Renee named her baby after their grandmother. Annie's father comes back to apologize for leaving and we leave our family to the sound of "Hello Muddha" being sung by the Camdens.
